A Standard Against The Enemy

Memorial Day 2010.

“Once again I woke up in sweat-drenched sheets. ‘Thank God I woke up! What a horrible nightmare!’ Only to fall back to sleep and the dream starts to play back again…and again…and again. People inches from my face screaming, ‘It’s none of your business what I do with my body! You’re not even a woman! You have no say in this!!’

When I would wake up the words of a famous Pastor’s sermon I heard on the radio would start playing back. ‘I will not speak against abortion from my pulpit because there are women in my congregation who have had abortions and they need to hear about God’s LOVE.’ When I finally got up in the morning I was totally beaten down and defeated. I said, ‘They are right. I’m too outspoken about abortion. I need to tone it down.’

I put on coffee, sat down at the kitchen table where my Bible was laying, flopped it open and started drowsily reading the first verse my eyes fell on.

“Open your mouth for the speechless, for the cause of all who are appointed to die!”

… ‘HUH? ….What did I just read???’

“OPEN YOUR MOUTH FOR THE SPEECHLESS, FOR THE CAUSE OF ALL WHO ARE APPOINTED TO DIE!”

Proverbs 31:8

This is the verse God used in Kevin Williams’ life to “nudge him out the door” and start praying at the abortion clinics. Since that day in 2010, Kevin has been to the clinics 800-900 times. He is there, pleading with and counseling women, every abortion day.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” James 1:27

Loving the fatherless includes loving the unborn. Babies entering the abortion clinics have no voice to plead for them. Their time is short, being abandoned by their fathers and mothers to face death inside the womb. Christians who speak out at abortion clinics are being a voice for these little ones. They remind mothers that there are other options, that others will help them and care for their unborn baby.

Kevin’s ministry has helped numerous mothers and fathers choose life for their unborn children. He has come alongside, with the help of other Christians, to offer financial aid, jobs, food, housing, etc. to these women and families.

“The Word of God says that ‘When the enemy comes in like a flood the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a Standard against him.’ Interestingly, the Hebrew word for “Standard” is “Noos” which is usually translated ‘To flee’ or ‘To put to flight.’ Satan and his devices, like cockroaches, flee when the Light of God’s Word and Spirit shine on their nocturnal works of darkness.
